Camino Cove Campground is a medium-sized remote campground on the shores of Union Valley Reservoir in California’s Eastern Sierras. Camino Cove Campground is maintained as part of the larger Crystal Basin Recreation Area, which is a partnership between the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) and the US Forest Service.

Each of the campsites at Camino Cove Campground are shaded by tall pine trees and include a picnic table, fire ring, and access to a vault toilet. Reservations are not accepted for Camino Cove Campground; all campsites are first-come/first-served. There is a boat ramp accessible from the campground. Campfire restrictions may be in effect during fire seasons.

Camino Cove Campground is located on northwest shore of Union Valley Reservoir, 17 miles from Highway 50. From Highway 50 go 7 miles north on Ice House Road. Turn left on Peavine Ridge Road, go 3 miles west to Bryant Springs Road, turn right, go 5 miles north past West Point boat ramp. Continue 1.5 miles east to campground turn-off on right.

When To Go

Summer – West Point Campground is often under used and available during the summer. The warm weather is great for relaxing on the beach next to the campground.

Boating, Kayaking, & Canoeing – Union Valley Reservoir is directly accessible from Camino Cove Campground, and a boat ramp is located nearby at West Point Campground.

Relax on the beach – A great rocky beach is adjacent to the campground and is great for relaxing on.
