There is a quarter-mile trail along the river from Farewell Bend Campground to the wildly scenic Rogue River Gorge Viewpoint.

There are 61 campsites at Farewell Bend Campground, each of which comes with a picnic table, fire ring, and access to drinking water, bathrooms, and playground for the kids. The campground can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 40 feet in length, with a grey water sump available. Union Creek Resort is located half a mile away and offers camping supplies and a restaurant. Reservations are not accepted, all campsites at Farewell Bend are first-come/first-served.

Campfire restrictions may be in effect in the summertime at Farewell Bend Campground. Check with the High Cascades Ranger District for up to date restriction information.

Farewell Bend Campground Bottom Line

There are some great campsites located along the river that are pretty quiet, except for the bubbling and rapids from the water. The riverside campsites also have the best separation between campsites, and in many cases it is hard to see your neighbors. The inside loop campsites are pretty nice as well, albeit lacking in the sounds of the river, just avoid the campsites near the playground if you are looking for piece and quiet. Then there are a handful of campsites located along the highway, that are closer to what you would find in an RV park. These campsites get a lot of road noise and are definitely less scenic.

The Rogue River Gorge, Natural Bridge, and Crater Lake National Park are all close by and worth visiting if you camp at Farewell Bend Campground.

The bottom line on Farewell Bend Campground is to go in mid-May or early June. The campground is never really busy, but the bugs in this area can get pretty bad in the evenings.
