Fourmile Lake Campground – Bottom Line
We really like Fourmile Lake Campground! The campground is on the small side and is only accessible by a gravel road, but the Fourmile Lake is gorgeous in the summer time when the sun in reflecting off of the water. All of the campsites with the exception of the equestrian campsites are directly on the lake and are where we would recommend camping. Most of the campsites provide good spacing between neighboring campsites, and offer decent privacy.
What also makes Fourmile Lake Campground great is the access to so many outdoor activities. The lake is surrounded by the Sky Lakes Wilderness, which has many hiking trails, and access to the nearby Mt. McLoughlin. The lake itself is great for fishing and boating, although boat speeds are limited to 10mph. Our favorite activity, however is sitting in a camping chair and watching the activity on the lake from boats and wildlife.
Like any other campground in Southern Oregon, bugs can be pretty bad at Fourmile Lake Campground and will want to bring bug repellant. Also, make sure the vehicle you bring to Fourmile Lake Campground has good tires, the gravel road does not seem that bad, but the gravel can be pretty sharp and will puncture tires. When we visited the campground we got a nice slice in the off-road tires on our scout vehicle .
