Sunset Campground is a large, but enjoyable campground with comfortable temperatures and access to the famous giant sequoia trees. This is a great campground to use a as jumping-off point for exploring Kings Canyon National Park and the neighboring Sequoia National Park. Sunset Campground sits at a higher elevation, which makes the temperatures enjoyable, and is less than a mile from the Grant Grove of giant sequoias. Sunset Campground is an ideal base camp for venturing off and exploring both Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. This is also a great last minute camping destination as Sunset Campground usually has open sites that do not require reservations.
All individual campsites at Sunset Campground are first-come, first-served. Each campsite includes a fire pit, food locker, picnic table, and access to bathrooms.
