While GoPro has been killing it in the action sports camera market over the last few years, the Polaroid Cube is trying to take a stab at that market in a decidedly different way. The Polaroid Cube made its first appearance earlier this year at the Consumer Electronics Show, but has since been upgraded to offer better quality pictures and video, a tweaked design, and a slew of optional mounts. However, the biggest news now is the price, set at only $100.
Polaroid Cube Tech Specs
The Cube is just about 1-inch, by 1-inch, houses a microSD slot, can shoot 1080p using a 6-megapixel sensor, a 124-degree wide-angle lens, and a battery that record up to 90 minutes of video. Polaroid is not messing around with the mounts either; they are going full GoPro-style and releasing at least 7 different styles of mounts, including tripods and helmet mounts. Our favorite part though is the built-in magnet that can stick to just about any metal surface.
The camera is available for pre-orders now, and will be shipping in the late August-September timeframe. We have one ordered and will be doing a full review, in the meantime check out their press video below.
