Silver Strand State Beach Campground is an RV-only campground located on a small strip of land between San Diego Bay and the Pacific Ocean between Coronado and Imperial Beach. Silver Strand State Beach is somewhat unique in that it features beaches on both the west and the east side. The Pacific Ocean side beach offers larger waves, but colder water than the calmer, warmer San Diego Bay side. Silver Strand is a popular destination for the the locals and is known simply as “The Strand” by the locals, however it is less busy than nearby Mission Beach and Ocean Beach for day use. The beach is bordered on the north and south ends by Naval facilities used to train Navy SEALs, and bisected by California Highway 75, which runs north to south between Coronado and Imperial Beach.

The campground has many activities available to campers including surfing, kayaking, swimming, and other beach activities like volleyball. Fishing is also very popular here, with perch, corbina, grunion, and yellow-fin popular catches. All of these activities are popular all year long due to the very mild and warm climate. Beach fires are allowed in designated concrete fire rings provided by California State Parks.

There are 135 self-contained only campsites for RVs available at Silver Strand State Beach Campground. The campsites are paved and do not allow for tent camping. The campsites do not directly offer any amenities, but bathrooms with showers are available within the campground. Campfires are allowed in portable fire containers than are elevated six inches or more above the pavement.
