Wrights Beach Campground is a small beachside campground located along the pristine Sonoma Coast in Northern California. The campground is within Sonoma Coast State Park, which is known for its long sandy beaches and secluded coves set against rugged headlands. There are 27 campsites within Wright’s Beach Campground, 10 of which backup onto the beach. Each campsite in Wright’s Beach Campground has picnic tables, fire rings, and paved parking spurs. Running water and flush toilets are also located within the campground, showers are available at the nearby Bodega Dunes Campground.
Wrights Beach Campground Bottom Line
Wrights Beach Campground is a great place to camp, if you can get one of the 10 campsites along the beach. The beachside campsites are the most private and offer fantastic views of the ocean and the surrounding beach. If you cannot get one of the beach sites (campsites 1-10), which are the best campsites at Wrights Beach, get one of the campsites on the east side of the campground (campsites 19-27). Avoid campsites 13-18; they are terrible places to camp. These campsites are located on the interior of the campground, are very small, and have no privacy whatsoever.
Campsites at Wright’s Beach Campground are often completely booked up well in advance, especially on weekends, however there is overflow camping available when the campground is full. The overflow area is located along the roadway adjacent to the kiosk at the campground entrance, and may be used for self-contained vehicles. Tents are not allowed in the overflow camping area. This area is along the roadway adjacent to the kiosk at the campground entrance.

Like most north coast beaches, Wrights Beach is NOT FOR SWIMMING. Strong rip currents, heavy surf and sudden ground swells make even surf play dangerous. It is especially important to keep children back from the highest water-line and never turn your back to the ocean. Many rescues are made each year.
Be careful of the bluffs and rocks. The shale formations are unstable and unsafe for climbing, so stay on the trails and heed warning signs.
