Three Mile Wash is a primitive recreation site on Apache Lake located in an unsigned area located near milepost marker 239 on Apache Trail. Three Mile Wash, is the closest camping to Roosevelt Dam, and offers gravel beach camping. However it is the smallest of the gravel beach campsites along Apache Lake and Apache Trail.

There is not a boat ramp at Three Mile Wash, but there is one nearby at Burnt Corral Recreation Area, and the only other amenities are a trio of port-a-potties. Boating and fishing are popular activities at Three Mile Wash. Apache Lake is stocked with Rainbow Trout, Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass, Crappie, Sunfish, Channel and Flathead Catfish, and Walleye. A boat ramp is available at nearby Burnt Corral Campground or Apache Lake Campground. You can find camping supplies nearby at the marina at Apache Lake Campground.

Directions: Three Mile Wash Campground is 3 miles south of Roosevelt Dam on the south shoreline of Apache Lake.From Apache Junction: Drive north on AZ Hwy. 88 (Apache Trail) for 41 miles (the last 20 miles of AZ Hwy. 88 are unpaved) to Three Mile Wash Recreation Site. Turn left and continue to Three Mile Wash.

From Mesa: Take AZ Hwy. 87/Beeline Hwy. north for approximately 60 miles to its junction with State Hwy. 188. Turn right onto AZ Hwy. 188 for 33 miles to its junction with AZ Hwy. 88 (Apache Trail). Turn right onto AZ Hwy. 88, and drive past Roosevelt Dam (unpaved) for 3 miles to Three Mile Wash Recreation Site. Turn right and continue to the site.

From the Globe area: Take AZ Hwy. 188 west for 30 miles to its junction with AZ Hwy. 88. Turn left onto AZ Hwy. 88 (Apache Trail) and continue past Roosevelt Dam (unpaved) for 3 miles to Three Mile Wash Recreation Site. Turn right into the site.

Apache Trail (AZ-88) is a narrow, winding, dirt mountain road, with a maximum vehicle length limit of 40 feet and is not recommended for trailers over 22 feet in length.

Tonto Passes are required for each vehicle and watercraft. Passes can be purchased in advance online or at retail outlets. The closest retail outlets to Three MileWash Campground are the Tonto Basin Ranger District office at Roosevelt Lake on AZ Highway 188.
