Wrights Lake Campground is a large campground on a the shores of the lake that is popular for bass fishing canoeing, and hiking. Wrights Lake is a quiet alpine lake, with crystal clear cold water surrounded by tall pines and granite rock mountains. Wrights Lake Campground is often used as a jumping off point for day trips into the Desolation Wilderness, which is accessible via trailhead from the campground.

Wrights Lake Campground is maintained as part of the larger Crystal Basin Recreation Area, which is a partnership between the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) and the US Forest Service.

There are 72 campsites at Wrights Lake Campground. All of the campsites include a picnic table, bear box, fire ring, access to drinking water, and a vault toilet. A free California Campfire Permit is required for campfires. Permits can be picked up at an Eldorado National Forest office. Reservations are required in July & August.
